ABOUT THE ARTIST

"I MAKE ART THAT DIVES DEEP INTO THE SOUL. IT SHOWS THE STRENGH THAT IS FOUND BY OVERCOMING "

THE STUDY OF LIFE...

Aglae Matl, is a 29 year old Vienna-based artist fueled by an insatiable curiosity and a deep desire to understand the interconnectedness of our world. It was through scuba diving with her family that Aglae fell in love with the aquatic world, after overcoming her deep fear of fish. The Ocean remains a constant inspiration for her artwork and the reason she advocates for nature restoration and protection.

Aglae's talent was recognized early on, and she started selling pet portraits at the age of 14. She graduated high school with honors, having chosen art as an elective. In 2023, Aglae completed the Mastery Program at the Milan Art Institute in Georgia, USA.

Aglae's work has been published in the Book: "100 Emerging Artworks: Women's Edition 2023" by the Arts to Hearts Project.

"When you see my artwork, I want you to experience beauty and curiosity. It is an invitation to explore the depths of your own being, a visual reminder that you are worthy of love. You deserve to be heard, to take action for what you believe, and the hope this creates.

You can be the change you want to see in this world."

Blending classical techniques with contemporary mixed media materials, her signature style weaves abstract drips and brushstrokes into intricate portraits of women and animals. By layering collage, inks, markers, spray paint, gold leaf, and finally oil paint Aglae crafts textured masterpieces that embody the essence of her vision.

Aglae currently works from her home studio in Vienna, where she can forget about everything else and immerse herself in her work. She is married and has an almost two year old son, whom she often carried on her back while painting. She researches and finds sustainable swaps in her everyday life and shares her discoveries on social media. In her free time, she enjoys diving in the ocean and the beautiful lakes of Austria.
